WHAT WE DO

Mental Health related Training and Workshops.

At Practical Minds, many of our workshops focus on practical strategies for self-care, managing emotions, and resolving conflict. We support families with behaviour and parenting challenges, offer guidance for those dealing with trauma, and help clients better understand neurodiversity, including ADHD and ASD.

 

We aim to equip individuals with tools to navigate life’s challenges with clarity and confidence.

WHAT WE DO

Sports related Training and Workshops.

Our sport and performance based workshops at Practical Minds supports athletes with both performance and personal challenges, again through teaching underlying principles and practical evidence-based approaches. Topics cover  neurodiversity in sport, resilience, team culture and sport-specific family law and relationship guidance.

About Us

Steve Bicknell

Registered Psychologist

Graduate Diploma Psychology – University of Wollongong

AHPRA Board Approved Supervisor for Psychology

EMDR accredited

Steve is a Registered Psychologist with over 15 years experience working with adults, adolescents and children.
 

Steve spent 12 years working with Youth Justice mostly in correctional settings, and has also worked in educational, mental health and disability areas. Steve has worked in private practice since early 2017.

Steve’s particular interests and skills include working with trauma and PTSD, ADHD/Neurodivergence, anti-social behaviour, behaviour management, parenting, substance abuse and divorce & child custody disputes as well as anxiety and depression. He has extensive experience in group therapy and workshop and training.

Whilst much of his history is working with severe and complex presentations, Steve has vast experience with all wide array of clients, presenting with all manner of concerns. Steve’s friendly and easy going nature helps clients to feel comfortable and confident in a therapeutic environment.

Steve is currently one of the team aligned Psychologists for the Parramatta Eels and Wests Tigers, as well as being a Specialist Psychologist for the NRL in anti-social behaviour, trauma and neurodivergence.

More recently Steve is also a Psychologist for players association with the Australian Football League (AFL), Cricket Australia, and has worked with athletes from the National Football League (NFL), A-League, and other Olympic Events.

Rebecca Zammit

Practice Manager

Rebecca joined Practical Minds in 2023, with 10+ years in Office Management across multiple industries - ranging from large scale hotel groups, specialising in Revenue and Reservations Management, to small businesses offering Allied Healthcare.
 
Rebecca graduated from the University of Wollongong in 2011, with a Commerce & Business Law degree before making the move to Sydney. Today, working alongside Steve and steering the Practical Minds clinic remotely, Rebecca maintains an approachable and attentive nature to ensure that client's feel supported even after the session is finished.
